Skip Pannell

Skip Pannell drives the #49 Late Model Class car.  He races with the National Late Model Series but can also be found racing at Douglas Motor Speedway.  He lives in Bronwood, GA.

Team members helping Skip are:  James Simons, John King, Bill McCoullough, Deborah Crawford.  James Simons is the car owner.

Skip started racing in 1973 in the Late Model Class at Thunder Bowl Speedway because his Father raced.  His first win was in 1976 in the Late Model Class at Albany Speedway.  Career highlights include Interstate Speedway Champion in 1979 in Late Model, 441 Speedway Champion in '91 in Late Model, 1995 NLMS Champion, over 400 wins.  Drove some Busch Races in '95 for Legendary Jack Ingram, Thunder Bowl Speedway Track Champion in '86.

The thrill of racing for Skip is winning and having a good time with his team.  His most exciting racing moments were all the wins and Track Championships.  He's most proud of James Simon and John King and everybody that helps him.

Skip's racing hero is his Dad, Jay Pannell.

Of racing, Skip says, "Expensive!  I think it keeps young boys and girls out of trouble.  You have to be very dedicated to win!".
