Jeffersonville Sportsdrome: 18th Annual Xtreme Figure 8 Mania Twin 45’s Championship

On Saturday, August 5th, the Sportsdrome gave fans an especially exciting night of racing with the Late Model Figure 8 cars.  The track can legitimately claim many of the top figure 8 racers in this region and they never disappoint.  The format for this evening’s races made it even better as the 23 drivers ran two forty-five lap “feature” races.

Qualifying times determined starting positions in the first race.  Starting positions were inverted for the second race.  Winning order was determined by combining finishing positions for both races.  Top qualifier Gerry Isgrigg, in Car #1, was the overall winner by beating the field to the finish line in the first race and then charging from the back to place second in the inverted start, final forty-five lapper. Isgrigg had plenty challengers!  After positions were combined for the two races, Chris Harmon placed second, followed by Danny Smith, Zeke Skaggs, Artie Ware and Rick Heine.

The top five finishers in the first 45-lapper were #1 Gerry Isgrigg, #38 Artie Ware, #6 Chris Harmon, #35 Mark Harmon and #80 Butch Winters.  The second race saw this five leading the field:  #6 Chris Harmon, #1 Gerry Isgrigg, #23 Danny Smith, #41 Zeke Skaggs, and #27 Rick Heine.

Also link to the Sportsdrome website for every Saturday night’s racing program.  Regular weekly racing classes include the Late Model Figure 8, called the Xtreme 8 class, Oval Late Model class called Xtreme Oval, Dromer Figure 8 and Dromer Oval.  Upcoming programs also feature special figure 8 races such as the MidWestern Series and School Bus Figure 8.

A recent addition to the track is the VIP Suite.  It is a spacious hospitality area with a great view of the races, plus air-conditioned indoor seating or outdoor seating, with food and drinks available.  It’s a great facility to entertain customers, employees, family or friends.  Contact track management through the website or by calling the Sportsdrome Speedway at (812) 282-7551.
