PRI .....getting closer

The 21st annual PRI show will be held on December 11th thru 13th, 2008. What the heck is that you ask?  Good, you’re the one I want to talk to.  The PRI show (Performance Racing Industry) is the yearly gathering of the racing clans. Sanctioning bodies, tracks, engine builders, etc. set up booths and displays their new ideas.

The get togethers started in 1988 in Louisville Kentucky . As it grew in size it moved to Nashville , Cincinnati , Columbus , Indianapolis and finally the 1,000,000 square foot convention center in Orlando Florida . The owners of nearly every engine shop, chassis builders, and race tracks are here to talk about their product. I see more Carolina folks down there that I do all year back in Charlotte . There was even a group there that makes a strap on bag for you to pee into during a long day in the pits. Was checking out the new helmets at a booth and noticed Scott Bloomquist standing next to me. Sat down for lunch and had an editor of Road and Track at our table and reporter Robin Miller at the next table.

All forms of racing are represented…drag, oval, sports cars, boats even land speed record cars. With over 4,000 display booths it would be heaven for a race fan. Even NASCAR has a booth. However, it is not fan friendly. This is not the place to collect autographs. You must be part of the racing industry to attend.  We will attend (don’t ask) and we will take you with, thanks to  We’ve been to the last couple of shows and are beginning to know our way around. We’ll get all the 2009 information and news.  Lots of photos and interviews and you don’t have to leave the house. We’ll do the leg work so you can stay home and shovel the snow. Look at the photos of other PRI shows and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
