Roger started racing in 1953 in Go Karts and then in 1967 in Sprints at Nationwide because his Dad built him a Go Kart.  His first win was in 1967 in the Sprint Class at Jefferson County Speedway in NE.  Roger is in the Minnesota, Nebraska and Knoxville Raceway Hall of Fame!  He's a member of the elite "Leaders Circle Club", USAC Rookie of the Year, "Action Track" Driver of the Year, Captain of the United States Sprint Car Team in South Africa, holds the World Record on the 1 mile Dirt Track without a wing, more than 250 career Sprint Car victories in the U.S. and more than a dozen in South Africa, Track Championships at Knoxville, Iowa and Minneapolis North Star Speedway, State Championship in Washington, MSS National Champion in 2000 and 2001 and Knoxville Iowa Masters Champion 3 out of 6 years!

The thrill of racing for Roger these days is beating the kids at a young man's game.  His most exciting racing moment was leading the 1980 Indianapolis 500.  He's most proud of making sure the fans got their money's worth.

Roger's racing hero is Lloyd Beckman.

Of racing, Roger says, "It's become a rich man's sport.  It's like golf.  A golfer goes out and buys a set of clubs, a bag of balls, a golf cart and pays $125 to play a round.  Our club (car) is bigger, balls are bigger, and it costs a minimum of $1000 to play a round!".

His favorite racing website is any racing website.
