The Volusia Speedway Park Winter Nationals Late Models

Rick Eckert  lead the 1st night  UMP late model feature wire to wire. 71 late models timed in. When the green flag flew he was gone. Billy Moyer mounted two different runs on Rick but none worked and he finished second. 

There was a great race between Shannon Babb in the 18 car, Steve Francis in the 15 and Dale Mc Dowell in the 17. Babb had to work his way through the field and on lap 8 the battle began. Each car took third only to be over taken on the next corner. This went on for the other 22 laps and  got real exciting when they got in traffic.  Every lap a different order. Francis who has had been the best charger over all in Florida ended up third on turn 4 pass of McDowell  who was 4th and Babb finished 5th.

Darrel Lanagan was 6th followed by Tim Mc Creadie,  Ohio's Robby Blaire, Dennis Erbb and Scott James rounded out the top 10.    Scott James is gonna win some races soon. He has looked real fast and been in just miss situations.
