He began racing in  1995 in Street Class at Barren County Speedway because of his Dad and Uncle, J. T. and Eugene. His first win was in 1995 in same Class at Barren. Career highlights include 2nd in Points in 1995, He is currently leading Points in 2004.

The thrill of racing for Jimmy is winning.  A fast win is the most exciting racing moments for him. He is most proud of racing and winning in 2003.

His racing hero is His Uncle, Eugene Houchens.
